The quest for Ethics and Education led to the culmination of KERALA PUBLIC SCHOOL. The journey began in 1996, when the bricks of its foundation were laid under the kind guardianship of the Chairman of KPS Trust, Late A. P. R. Nair. The Enterprise began with Mrs. Vijayam Kartha who is the Vice–Chairperson of the Trust. The school journeyed its way through the troughs and crests of time with Mrs. Shanta Vaidyanathan as the Principal who began the mammoth construction with a cluster of 15 teachers and 250 students. Making its way to what is proudly seen as Kerala Public School today, has not been achieved within a wink of an eye. It is a result of 17 years of hard work and struggle and after all the toil and determination, what stands before you is an edifice of education with classrooms, labs, smart classes, library, activity rooms, courts for basket ball and volleyball and a sprawling ground for football. KPS has a very pleasant ambiance, situated at the banks of Swarnarekha, everyday heralds a new beginning full of positive energy and aura emanating from the rising Sun. Our strength is 3267 students and 158 staff members which are inclusive of teachers, staff and support staff without whose inevitable cooperation, KPS would be nothing but an edifice of cement and stone. We are a family and we live every moment of the day.
2013 – 2014 saw the school ascending the summit of success with 68 students securing 90% and above in ICSE in different subjects and 42 students securing 90% and above in ISC in different subjects. Overall there were 191 students who appeared in the ICSE Board Exams and 154 students appearing in the ISC Board Exams. It is nevertheless noteworthy that these wunderkinds hail from middle and lower middle class suburbs that do not have a good or sustainable financial backup, which is augmented by a non-conducive environment to studies too. But disdaining such strong obstacles and all apprehensions, these children have tried to sail through their school life with flying colours; thus bringing laurels and commendations to not only themselves and school but to their families as well.
The school remains immensely gratified for the magnanimous shelter provided by the Principal, Mrs. Sharmila Mukherjee. Her strict mentoring and kind support has helped the entire staff to work after the students, thus bringing a budding lotus in front of you all. Her steady approach and strong determination has taken the school through its vision and mission. But of course, the indefatigable spirit and an unputdownable mettle is backed up by none other than the Director Mr. Sharat Chandran. He is the radar to the ship which is sailing fairly through the waxing and waning facets of life.
Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.
